WHO: Key criteria for the ethical acceptability of COVID-19 human challenge studies. Now available in Spanish.

The COVID-19 pandemic has stressed the urgency to conduct research to produce safe and efficacious vaccines quickly, and thus brought renewed attention to controlled human infection studies (or “human challenge studies”), which involve the deliberate infection of healthy volunteers.

This publication, developed by WHO Working Group for Guidance on Human Challenge Studies in COVID-19, presents the key criteria to assess the ethical acceptability of human challenge studies. It is available in English and now also in Spanish.
